Why Lili Reinhart has no memory of her time on “Riverdale”: ‘I don’t really remember’

Lili Reinhart reflected on her Riverdale days during a recent appearance on the In Your Dreams podcast.
The actress claimed she doesn’t really remember her time on the CW show.
“It was kind of traumatic,” Reinhart said.
Lili Reinhart has something “crazy” to say about her time on Riverdale.
“I don’t really remember,” she admitted during a Friday appearance on the In Your Dreams podcast. “Because it was kind of traumatic.”
Reinhart got her breakout role as Betty Cooper on the CW show, which ran for seven seasons from 2017 to 2023. She was thinking about her time on the show “the other day” while watching Forbidden Fruits costar Lola Tung experience the same thing with The Summer I Turned Pretty.
“There’s this thing that happens, where it happens very quickly if you’re on a show like that,” Reinhart explained. “It rises into pop culture and a lot’s happening at once. It’s so weird. I’m very thankful that TikTok wasn’t a thing when this was happening for me.”
While Reinhart clarified that she loves TikTok and spends “hours of my life every day” on the app, it makes “things bigger” than they would be without the potential for a viral video.
“I think had Riverdale been any bigger than it was, it would have been too much for all of us,” the actress continued. “That’s why I have really a lot of just empathy and compassion for the young people in their 20s who are on shows now that are blasted all over TikTok, because it’s just really amplified more than it ever has been.”

Reinhart added, “Nobody deserves that many people commenting on your existence. It’s just too much.”

The Love Hypothesis star admitted that she “sometimes would love to not be called Betty” all the time, but knows it’s “coming from love.” Reinhart explained, “That’s just inherently what most people know me for, but I have the rest of my career to keep doing things and it doesn’t like inhibit me in any way.”
Reinhart said she’s “privileged” to have done something that “is so impactful to people or pop culture that they carry that association through the rest of your career.”
She reflected on her Riverdale days during a recent interview with The New York Times as well, explaining how it’s impacted the roles she picks going forward.

“I’m waiting for the day I get sent a project where I am doing something I haven’t done on Riverdale,” Reinhart shared. “I have genuinely, within Riverdale, done horror, action, fantasy, time travel, superpowers, high school, musicals.”
