LONDON, Aug 12 (Reuters) - Europe's largest travel company TUI reported worse third-quarter results than expected on Wednesday, as travellers pulled back from booking trips and the price of jet fuel remained high due to the U.S. war with Iran.
TUI reported an operating profit of €234.6 million ($270.6 million), compared with €274 million projected by analysts polled by LSEG. That was down 26.8% from last year's operating profit of €320.6 million.

The German firm confirmed its operating profit outlook for the year, but said its third quarter was characterised by ongoing geopolitical uncertainties, weakness in European markets and customer caution.
