“Spider-Man” Star Jacob Batalon Says He Keeps His Wife’s Location on His Phone: ‘I’m Like a Lost Child’ (Exclusive)

Jacob Batalon tells PEOPLE about Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘s “Spidey Tracker” app, which Samsung developed for the movie

On his own phone, the actor shares, he and wife Veronica Leahov share their locations with each other

“Because I’m like a lost child, you know, at the grocery store,” jokes Batalon

Jacob Batalon would be lost without his wife, Veronica Leahov.

The actor behind Ned in Spider-Man: Brand New Day tells PEOPLE that his character’s “Spidey Tracker” app isn’t too far off from how he uses such technology in real life. He and Leahov, for example, can keep track of each other at all times.

“I definitely have my wife’s location [on my phone],” says Batalon, 29, with a laugh, calling the Samsung products he uses on- and off-screen “useful.”

“Because I’m like a lost child, you know, at the grocery store,” he quips. “And she helps me all the time. So that’s great.”

Samsung outfitted Batalon with the new Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Watch, used in the movie when Ned shares the “Spidey Tracker” tech with Tom Holland‘s Peter Parker aka Spider-Man.

Batalon admits that he “had no idea that phones were capable of doing such things, and so it was very enlightening — I was able to play with those things and Samsung was very gracious enough to let me kind of just, like, fool around with it. And it was really fun.”

The actor and Leahov got engaged in March 2025 and tied the knot recently, PEOPLE confirmed in July. Batalon first hinted at his nuptials last month when he referred to Leahov as his “wife” during an interview with Heart.

The Destin Daniel Cretton-directed Brand New Day sees Batalon and Holland, 30, reuniting with franchise costar Zendaya, plus Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo and Sadie Sink. The Marvel-Sony sequel, Holland’s fourth solo Spider-Man movie, now holds the record for the biggest opening weekend for a theatrical film ever.

“I think what’s really cool about Ned is that they never really lost his intelligence,” says Batalon of Peter’s best friend, who he’s been playing since 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. “One of the main things that made him so cool was that not only was he a really great best friend, he was also just a really techie guy.”
