God save the Queen… and anyone who tries to pick a fight with the Sex Pistols.

The iconic English punk band showed an unruly fan the door at a recent concert after he tried to take part in a mosh pit that had been reserved for female fans, drawing cheers from the crowd and an apology from the man’s father.

The Sex Pistols were performing at the Ogden Theatre in Denver on Oct. 9 when they asked male fans to step aside and allow the women to enjoy a mosh pit just for them. When a man tried to infiltrate, lead singer Frank Carter spoke out from the stage.

“Every time, there’s always a f---ing man that tells me, ‘[Women] can do this all the f---ing time.’ Like, they can’t… Do you know why?” an angry Carter, 42, told the crowd, according to Consequence and fan video. “Because they walk in the mosh pit and they get a f---ing elbow to the head by a f---ing idiot!”

As Carter spoke, the fan shook his head, prompting the singer to ask him if he was “f---ing stupid.”

“It’s not your lived experience, so just shut the f--- up!” he said, drawing cheers and applause from the crowd. “You’re still shaking your f---ing head. Do you know what, instead of crouching, just f---ing leave, bruv! How is it so difficult for you to see space made for women at a Sex Pistols gig? How the fuck did you decide, ‘No, they can f---ing do this whenever.’ Ask any one of them if they feel safe in every mosh pit. Don’t roll your f---ing eyes at me — you f---ing did this. You did this!”

Carter — who is currently on tour with the Sex Pistols’ original members Steve Jones, Glen Matlock and Paul Cook — eventually asked security to escort the man outside.

The singer addressed the situation on his Instagram Stories the next day, according to screenshots shared by Consequence, sharing a selfie of himself giving a thumbs down.

“If you are a man who gets offended by a band making room for a female only moshpit then you are PART OF THE PROBLEM,” he wrote. “Stay home, read a book by bell hooks, come back when kindness, compassion and empathy have landed with you. Incels, homophobes, misogynists, racists, fascists not welcome… When I say a ladies only moshpit… I of course mean a trans inclusionary space.”

Carter also included a message allegedly sent to him by the father of the fan that was kicked out, apologizing for his son’s behavior.

“Frank—let me apologize that was my idiotic son who decided to make a stand last night in Denver about the women’s mosh pit,” he wrote. “Wasn’t how he was raised, wasn’t what he was taught. His sisters learning of his stand are very upset [with] him as am I.”

The man told Carter that he was taking in the show from the balcony, and didn’t realize the fan causing chaos was his son until after the show.

The Sex Pistols formed in 1975 and released just one album before breaking up in 1978. In 2024, Cook, Jones and Matlock reformed the group, with Carter on vocals in place of Johnny Rotten. The group is currently on tour, with two North American shows left before a 10-date stretch in their native U.K. in December.
