Robert Pattinson has been the subject of countless classic memes since he first burst onto the scene with *Twilight* — but which one is *his *personal favorite?

“There’s one from a fitting from *Good Time,* which I still to this day do not understand,” he tells ** while promoting his new film, *Primetime*. “It’s one of those things where it makes me feel very, like, boomer, where I’m like,* I don’t get it*.”

*The* *Batman *star is referring to a meme commonly known as “tracksuit Robert Pattinson,” which was first posted on Instagram by *Good Time* director Josh Safdie in 2017. The image shows Pattinson wearing an Adidas track jacket and camo pants, standing alone in a kitchen and looking at the camera a bit awkwardly, with his hands at his sides. (Safdie has since deleted that Instagram account, so unfortunately, we can’t legally share the image here.)

The meme didn’t become popular until a few years later, when Twitter (now X) user @a24bitch tweeted the photo with the caption, “my bf came over LOL he’s so crazy!!” The post has since garnered over 101,000 likes. A couple of days later, user @karlimarulli scored another viral tweet when they shared the image with the caption, “‘Help your cousin get more folding chairs from the garage’ / The cousin:,” which now has over 142,000 likes.

Pattinson still doesn’t get the joke.

“It’s like, what is it? The 6-9. No, 6-7 [trend],” he says, referring to a meme popular among Gen Z. “I don’t understand. It’s literally nothing; nothing is happening. And yet, that picture became this weird thing.”

This isn’t the first time Pattinson has expressed admiration and confusion about the meme. He previously referenced the image in *Vogue*’s “Off the Cuff” video alongside Zendaya in March. The actor invoked the tracksuit photo during the lightning round, when Zendaya asked him to share a “viral meme” or “viral conspiracy” about himself.

In *Primetime, *Pattinson* *plays* *another pop culture figure famous for his memeability, *To Catch a Predator *host Chris Hansen. In fact, Pattinson “discovered Chris Hansen through a meme right when he had moved over to America...right before *Twilight*,” *Primetime *director Lance Oppenheim told EW in a separate interview.

Before the new film even hit theaters, clips and still images of the actor from trailers and other promotional materials became viral memes, many of which included Pattinson delivering the same lines that had turned Hansen into a meme decades earlier. It’s a phenomenon that’s not lost on Oppenheim.

“I’m happy that there’s this mimetic sort of existence,” he says. “It used to be that you would quote a movie, and I feel like for the last several years, up until maybe when Rob did *The Odyssey*, it felt like I wasn’t hearing lines repeated as much,” the director adds, referring to Pattinson’s now-famous line, “Somebody get these beggars out of here,” from the Christopher Nolan film, which has become yet another signature meme for the actor.

“I’m happy that it’s happening again after enduring for so long people saying movies were dead and pop culture has moved on,” Oppenheim continues. “I think it’s good that we actually have embraced the meme, so to speak. And in order to make a movie about a guy who’s turned himself into a meme, you have to sort of absorb and create your own memes, too.”

*Primetime *is now in theaters.
