Prior to the tragic death of his 13-year old-daughter, Chad Lowe and his family endured a devastating hardship.
In 2025, the Lowe family experienced tremendous loss when their residence was destroyed in the Pacific Palisades fires that swept through Southern California in early 2025. The actor, who is the brother of Rob Lowe, shared a message on Instagram from himself, his wife Kim Painter, and their three daughters, Mabel, Fiona and Nixie. Accompanied by heartbreaking footage showing the remains of their family home, Lowe posted, "This is what remains of 10 years of building our lives. Our hearts are broken, but we are comforted by all the well wishes, and offers of assistance."
"We are ok and will be ok. We have each other," he stated in the post. This message came over a year before the Lowe family announced Fiona's passing on September 29, 2026.

"Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers," Lowe continued in the emotional post, "Our thoughts and prayers are with all the other people who are suffering from this unimaginable disaster," reports the Mirror US.
"We are incredibly grateful to all the first responders, police, and firefighters who put their lives on the line to protect all of us. They are truly heroes. Home really is where the heart is. Hold those you love close. Take care of each other. This crazy thing called 'life' is so damn precious," he expressed before concluding the message with love from his family, "plus 3 cats and 2 fish."

Lowe also posted another message in which he praised his daughters for their strength following the loss of their home.

"Almost a month after we evacuated, our girls finally got to go back to see what's left of their home," he wrote.
"The way they've handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life's greatest joy and privilege," the message concluded.
On Septmber 29, the Lowes confirmed that Chad's daughter, Fiona, tragically passed away at only 13 years old.
The Lowe family released a statement to People, stating, "We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona."
They characterized the teenager as having been "adored by her sisters" and "deeply loved by her parents," noting that she was "the light of our lives."
"Her passing is devastating for our entire family, and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988," the statement ended.
