Real Housewives of New York City alum Jill Zarin shared in an Aug. 11 Instagram post that her mom, Gloria Kamen, died at age 91

Zarin described her mom as the “real OG housewife” in a tribute, calling her “my best friend, my mentor, and the most important person in my life”

Zarin co-wrote the 2010 book Secrets of a Jewish Mother with her sister Lisa and their mom

Jill Zarin is mourning the death of her mom.

In a post shared on Instagram on Tuesday, Aug. 11, the Bravo alum shared that her mom, Gloria Kamen, “passed away this morning at 91.”

Zarin, 62, described her mom as “my best friend, my mentor, and the most important person in my life” in the caption as she shared photos from throughout her mom’s life. “For 68 years she was the heart of our family — married to my dad, devoted to everything she believed in, and a relentless truth-teller in a world that needed her honesty.”

“She was everyone’s therapist, everyone’s voice of reason,” Zarin wrote. “Our book Secrets of a Jewish Mother shared our life stories and the wisdom that made her unforgettable.”

The 2010 book was co-written by Jill, her sister Lisa and Gloria.

Jill, who starred on The Real Housewives of New York from 2008 to 2011, described Gloria as “the real OG housewife who raised incredible women and touched the lives of millions with her counsel and kindness.”

“My mom leaves behind a legacy that can’t be measured,” Jill continued in the post’s caption. “Her wisdom, her strength, and her love will live on in her Grandchildren, Allyson, Jonathan, Joanna, Yotam and her first great-grandchild, Abby, who she absolutely treasured.”

“She will be deeply missed and never ever forgotten. Thank you mommy for everything you did for me and giving me the most beautiful family. You picked the best father I could ever ask for and you were always right about everything even if it took me a while to see it.”
