Eric Dane died on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 53, less than a year after announcing his ALS diagnosis

On the one-month anniversary of his death, his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, posted a heartfelt tribute in his honor

While Dane and Gayheart had separated in 2018, she requested to dismiss the divorce filing in April 2025 after Dane's diagnosis

Eric Dane's wife and daughters are continuing to remember his legacy.

Dane died on Feb. 19 at 53, nearly one year after he announced his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. “He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world,” his family wrote in a statement to PEOPLE at the time.

On Wednesday, March 18, just shy of the one-month mark since the actor's death, Rebecca Gayheart shared a tribute to the late actor on Instagram.

"There are no words. All our love forever — your girls ❤️‍🩹❤️," she wrote in the caption, referring to herself and the two daughters she shared with Dane: Billie, 16, and Georgia, 14.

In the post, she shared a montage of photos from over the years, including several couple shots of them together, lots of baby photos of their girls and several never-before-seen family pictures. The post also included a photo of the couple with Dane's Grey's Anatomy costar, Ellen Pompeo, and a photo of him with James Van Der Beek, who died just days before Dane at 48.

Dane's widow told Variety in a March 11 interview that she and her daughters have received so much support since the actor's death, and she's been "having trouble" processing it all.

“I just want to thank everybody for being so kind to us during the last couple of years. It’s been challenging and meaningful, and people are kind,” she said. "They’ve been holding me and the girls up the last two weeks, and I don’t think they’re going anywhere. I think they’re in it for the long haul. Hollywood gets a bad rap. That kind of makes me mad, because we have a lovely community of people, and I’m so grateful for them.”

She and Dane, who wed in 2003, separated in 2018, but she dismissed her divorce petition in March 2025 and remained a key caregiver for the actor amid his ALS journey.

In a December essay for The Cut, she reflected on the "complicated" dynamic between her and her ex. "It’s a very complicated relationship, one that’s confusing for people," she wrote. "Our love may not be romantic, but it’s a familial love."

They lived just 12 minutes from each other, albeit separately, and shared "a lot of meals together" and had "a lot of drop-by visits." At the time, she wrote that Dane had "made it very clear that he wants to spend time with his family as much as possible, and I am committed to facilitating that."

The Euphoria star often spoke of his ALS diagnosis and believed it was important to openly share his journey with the disease. "It's imperative that I share my journey with as many people as I can because I don't feel like my life is about me anymore," he said at a panel with I AM ALS and Synapticure co-founders Brian Wallach and Sandra Abrevaya in December 2025.

He continued, “I make sure that people are aware of what ALS is and what it's about, and more importantly, what we can do to combat it and improve the landscape, because it's so rocky and littered with hurdles and bureaucracy and all this other nonsense that we're trying to sift through so we can get to a place where we go, start working on solution.”
