Similar groups have turned up to royal events this year, questioning what the royal family knew about Andrew's involvement with Epstein

Protesters gathered outside Buckingham Palace during Trooping the Colour festivities on Saturday, June 13.

As members of the royal family gathered on the palace balcony to watch a flyover, outside the gate, protesters held signs that read "Down With the Crown" and placards with pictures of the former Prince Andrew from the Epstein files.

Andrew, 66, was arrested on Feb. 19 on suspicion of misconduct in public office, linked to allegations that he improperly shared information with Jeffrey Epstein while working as an envoy for the British government.

Prior to that, in October 2025, King Charles stripped Andrew's royal titles as his ties to Epstein, a convicted sex trafficker, came under renewed scrutiny, as the U.S. Department of Justice released thousands of pages of evidence, including multiple mentions and photos of Andrew.

The former Duke of York first lost his military titles and patronages in 2022, after he attempted to have a sexual assault lawsuit filed against him by Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre dismissed. The following month, he settled with Giuffre out of court for an undisclosed sum. Giuffre died by suicide on April 24, 2025.

Andrew has denied all wrongdoing regarding his ties to Epstein. Following his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office, which was unrelated to the sexual assault allegations, the King released a brief statement: "I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office… Let me state clearly: The law must take its course."

This isn't the first time Epstein-related protestors have positioned themselves at royal events. Ahead of the Commonwealth Day service on March 11, the King, Prince William, Kate Middleton and more were met at Westminster Abbey by members of the anti-monarchy group Republic.

They held signs reading "Not My King" and large letters spelling out "What Did You Know?" and "What Are You Hiding?"

As the royals entered the service, Princess Anne was seen seeming to tell her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, "Don't listen to them, ignore them," the Daily Mail reported.

The last time Andrew participated in a Trooping the Colour event was in 2019; he appeared in full military regalia alongside his siblings and his late mother, Queen Elizabeth.

However, since the recent Epstein fallout, Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson — who was also prominently featured in the Epstein files — have been attempting to stay out of the public eye, with Andrew moving into a house on the Sandrigham estate and Ferguson recently spotted at a mountain hideaway in the Austrian Alps.

Their daughters, Princess Beatrice, 37, and Princess Eugenie, 36, were also not present at the Trooping the Colour events this year, despite attending in the past. A source recently told PEOPLE that the sisters have been trying to "stay away" from the controversy surrounding their parents. "They have young children, and this is their grandfather — their focus is on protecting their own children from this," the insider said.
