Princess Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, cautioned Prince Harry about Meghan Markle before marriage. In a recent interview, Spencer revealed the lovely bond he shares with his younger nephew, his wife, and their two children. However, a royal author revealed that Spencer warned Harry against rushing into marrying Meghan, and it has a Diana connection.

Royal author Tom Bower claims Charles Spencer advised Prince Harry to think thoroughly before marrying Meghan Markle. Bower has shared his claims in his book “Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors.”

According to Bower, Spencer urged the Duke of Sussex not to rush into marriage with Markle and to slow down. However, Harry had a strong reaction to his uncle’s good-natured advice.

As per the royal author, Harry’s uncle, Spencer, and aunts, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, had apprehensions about the Sussexes’ relationship. However, as for the younger prince, he was confident that his mother’s side of the family would approve of him marrying the Suits star (via Daily Express).

According to Bower, Harry enthusiastically introduced Markle to his aunts. He reportedly hoped they would see the similarities he thought the Duchess of Sussex shared with his late mother. However, the Duke of Sussex was left disappointed because his aunts did not really see any similarities between Markle and the late Princess Diana. Instead, his mother’s side of the family was worried that Markle would have difficulty adjusting to the royal family.

Interestingly, Harry’s older brother, Prince William, too, tried to warn his brother about marrying Markle. A royal expert shared that the Prince of Wales requested his brother to “slow down” and take the relationship one step at a time. However, the Duke of Sussex did not pay the advice any heed. Harry reportedly proposed to Markle less than two years into their relationship. The Sussexes stepped down as working royals in January 2020 (via Daily Express).
