What's a better way to count down the days until Christmas than with ... pickles?

Advent calendars are a popular way to count down to Christmas, enjoying a surprise along the way. More traditional advent calendars may feature chocolates, wine, cookies or ornaments, but in effort to up the ante, some brands have released bold calendars that either appeal to a niche audience (we're looking at you, pickle fans) or are just silly.

This year, Burger King unveiled its BK Advent Calendar. The 12-day calendar featured Cini Mini Candles, a Burger King fanny pack, retro-style magnet and JD the Dog plush toy. The calendar released on Nov. 21 and sold out almost immediately.

You may not be able to snag a Burger King advent calendar this year, but USA TODAY rounded up several other unique, wacky and strange advent calendars worth checking out this year.

Red Bull Advent Calendar Pack

The Red Bull Advent Calendar Pack features 24 8.4-ounce cans, including flavors like Juneberry, Strawberry Apricot, Tropical Fruits and Pomegranate. The calendar is $50.

Kraft Natural Cheese Holiday Advent Calendars

The Kraft Natural Cheese Holiday Advent Calendar features parmesan cheese, socks, stickers and even a mug. The 12-day calendar is free as part of a giveaway at Chicago's Christkindlmarket from Dec. 10-13, 2025.

Cheese fans won't want to miss this.

Kraft Natural Cheese (different from The Kraft Heinz Company) will release a limited number of Kraft Natural Cheese Holiday Advent Calendars in December. The 12-day calendar features parmesan cheese, socks, stickers and a mug.

The cheesy advent calendar is only available to win through giveaways. Kraft Natural Cheese will be hosting giveaways during Chicago's Christkindlmarket from Dec. 10-13, while supplies last. Fans can also message Kraft on Instagram (@kraft.naturalcheese) to learn more about obtaining a calendar as part of a virtual giveaway.

12 Days of Pickles

Following the food trend, GiveThemBeer, a brand that specializes in gift baskets, offers a 12 Days of Pickles Advent Calendar. The 12-day calendar features pickle-flavored pretzels, jerky, nuts, popcorn and even lip balm.

The 12 Days of Pickles Advent Calendar is available on the GiveThemBeer website for $89. Orders take about three to five business days to arrive, according to the GiveThemBeer website.

Cowboy Creamery's 24 Days of Ice Cream Advent Calendar

Cowboy Creamery, based in Ohio, is offering a sweet surprise for 24 days of December.

Cowboy Creamery's 24 Days of Ice Cream Advent Calendar features 24 different samplings, including blackberry lemon bar, peanut butter cup, strawberry cheesecake, banana cream pie and gingerbread man. The advent calendar is available for nationwide shipping for $70. Ohioans can also also pick up the advent calendar in-store for $40.

NeeDoh Advent Calendar

For those who love a sensory toy, the NeeDoh Advent Calendar may be the perfect gift. The 24-day calendar features NeeDoh mini squeeze toys that come in different sizes, shapes and colors, including snow globes, ice cubs and fruits.

The NeeDoh Advent Calendar is available at Walmart, Kohl's, Amazon and other retailers. The advent calendar retails for between $20-30.

Furby Minis Advent Calendar

Hasbro's Furby Minis Advent Calendar includes nine Christmas-themed Furby Minis figurines, a keychain clip with eight charms and six holiday stickers. The calendar is $20.

'Games Advent Calendar: 25 Days - 25 Surprises'

Nintendo has released a virtual advent calendar for the Nintendo Switch.

"Games Advent Calendar: 25 Days - 25 Surprises" features a new winter-themed minigame every day of December, many of which are available in multiplayer. For impatient players, all of the games can also be unlocked the same day.

The video game is available from the Nintendo Store and on Steam for $15 and from Target and GameStop for $10.

12 Days of Victoria Holiday Thong Panty Advent Calendar

In time for the holidays, Victoria's Secret released a 12 Days of Victoria Holiday Thong Panty Advent Calendar featuring 12 pairs of high-waisted, holiday-themed underwear. The calendar is available for $55.65 on the Victoria's Secret website, as of Nov. 24.

Lovehoney Couple's Advent Calendar

If underwear aren't intimate enough, Lovehoney has several advent calendars available this year, including the Couple's Advent Calendar for $179. The 24-day calendar features a variety of different sex toys and accessories. Lovehoney also offers two 12-day calendars for $129.
