An Olympic gold medal isn't the only new bling that Breezy Johnson is bringing home this winter.
Four days after kicking off her Milan Cortina Winter Olympics run by winning gold in the women's downhill skiing event, the 30-year-old U.S. alpine skier added a new piece of hardware to her collection: an engagement ring courtesy of her boyfriend, Connor Watkins.
On Thursday, Johnson competed in her final event at the 2026 Olympic Games. Though she unfortunately crashed in the women's super-G and was unable to finish the race, Johnson still gathered with competitors and teammates at the finish line an hour later. It was there, in the snow, that Watkins got down on one knee and pulled out a ring.
"Breezy Noble Johnson, you have worked so hard and achieved so much," Watkins began in the proposal, captured on camera by several media outlets. "And yet you still find the time to love me, to make me feel special, and most importantly, you help me love myself."

He continued, "Now that I know what that feels like, there's only one way that I want to spend the rest of my life — and that is by your side."
Watkins then popped the question, earning an immediate "yes" from Johnson, who pulled him into a kiss.
Alongside the ring, blue and white sapphires set in white gold, Watkins presented Johnson with a small jewelry box, carved with the lyrics, "Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?" — a line from Taylor Swift's, "The Alchemy."

Johnson later told reporters that getting engaged at the Winter Games was a perfect culmination for her. "It felt fitting to combine two of my loves," she told NBC. "It’s a special place at the Olympics. I feel like there’s a lot of mystique around it.”
With a laugh, she added, "Also you get free photography."
Watkins, who has been with Johnson since the couple met on Bumble in 2023, told the outlet that he had been planning the proposal for a year and was "really hoping that I could get in the finish area and do it the way I wanted. And it turned out we could, and we're just super excited." He added that the moment went "above and beyond our wildest imagination."

An hour before the proposal, Johnson's bid to reach the super-G podium ended abruptly when she crashed on the course, after her right pole clipped a gate. She was ultimately unharmed, getting back to her feet on her own, but Watkins admitted that he considered not going through with the proposal, worried that the moment after the fumble wouldn't be right.

Johnson, however, said that just seeing Watkins after the race lifted her spirits.
"I was feeling kind of stupid, which I think is kind of the moment you want the people you love around you, like when you’re just feeling dumb and childish,” Johnson said. "You’re like, 'Tell me that I’m OK.' Just seeing him, 'It’s nice to see you,' and let’s go commiserate together. And then, obviously, everything else happened."
