Nancy Cartwright has voiced Bart Simpson for over 37 years
The actress, 68, recently sat down with Joe Mantegna, who voiced the Simpsons' character Fat Tony, for an episode of her podcast
During their conversation, she recalled being recognized for her voice while on a flight to London
No matter how far Nancy Cartwright travels, she canāt escape Bart Simpson.
During an episode of her podcast, Simpsons Declassified, Joe Mantegna, who voiced the Simpsons' character Fat Tony, questioned "the most ridiculous place" that someone has asked her to do the Bart voice.
Cartwright, 68, then explained that she was once on a flight to London when a flight attendant recognized her.

āShe was like, āSorry to interrupt you, Ms.Cartwright, but just wondering, are you the voice of Bart Simpson?ā Iām like, āYes, I am,'" the actress recalled. "She goes, āOkay, both of our pilots are huge, huge fans, would there be any way if we could get you to come up into the cockpit and announce that weāre leading in Heathrow?ā "
Cartwright told the flight attendant that she would be āglad to do that.ā

āSo we go up, and Iām like shaking their hand," she continued. "They handed me the microphone, and I said something like [in the voice of Bart Simpson] āLadies and gentlemen, this is Bart Simpson speaking. Iām the copilot here and I just wanted to let you know we will be landing in Japan in about 15 minutes, so buckle your seatbelts.ā ā

Cartwright has been the voice of Bart Simpson for over 38 years. At the Simpsons 800th episode party at The Fonda Theater in Hollywood on Feb. 6, the actress told PEOPLE that she originally went in to audition for the role of Lisa on the long-running show.

However, after learning more about Bart ā and that he was a "10-year-old underachiever, school-hating underachiever and proud of it" ā Cartwright recalled thinking, "wait a minute, that's more interesting." She got the role on the spot.
While chatting with PEOPLE, she also shared another "surprising placeā where she was once recognized for her voice, explaining that she was "on a train in South Africa" when a "12-year-old kid" connected the dots.
