Morrissey Quietly Cancels Vegas Residency 1 Week Before First Show, Continuing String of Concert Cancellations

Morrissey canceled his four-show Las Vegas residency just one week before it was set to begin

The singer has faced a series of cancellations in recent months due to health issues and other complications

Ticketmaster confirmed the latest cancellation, but Morrissey has yet to comment

Morrissey has quietly canceled his residency in Las Vegas just one week in advance — the latest in a string of cancellations from the English musician.

The 67-year-old singer-songwriter was scheduled to perform four shows at the Wynn Las Vegas’s Encore Theater on Friday, Aug. 14, Saturday, Aug. 15, Tuesday, Aug. 18 and Wednesday, Aug. 19, according to his website.

One week before the first show was scheduled, on Friday, Aug. 7, entertainment outlet Consequence reported that the entire four-show residency had been canceled.

Morrissey has not publicly announced the cancellation, but a statement on the Ticketmaster page for all four Las Vegas shows reads, “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event.” Ticketmaster also states that anyone who purchased a ticket through the company will receive a refund to the original method of payment within two to three weeks.

The reason for the residency cancellation is not yet clear.

A spokesperson for Morrissey did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Saturday, Aug. 8. PEOPLE has also reached out to Wynn Las Vegas for comment.

As of Aug. 8, it appears that the rest of the shows Morrissey has on the books for September through December, including dates across the United States and in Europe, remain scheduled.

The former Smiths frontman’s canceled residency marks the latest in a series of cancellations.

In January, the musician — who released his latest studio album Make-Up Is a Lie on March 6 — canceled his first scheduled concert of 2026 in Rancho Mirage, Calif. due to a medical issue. At the time, a statement shared on Morrissey’s website said the show would be postponed due to “an adverse reaction to a prescription medication.”

In March, the singer announced that he was not appearing onstage for a show in Valencia, Spain, the day it was scheduled due to his hotel being an “indescribable hell” that left him “unable to rest.”

A statement to fans at the time read, “Morrissey has described his hotel on Plaza Manises as... ‘indescribable hell. It will take me one year to recover. And that is an understatement.’ ”

“Tonight’s scheduled show in Valencia has been rendered impossible due to sleep deprivation,” the statement continued. “Morrissey drove from Milan to Valencia but has been unable to rest in Valencia due to noise. The show is not canceled. Circumstances render the show impossible.”

In another message, Morrissey attributed his lack of sleep to festival noise, loud techno singing and megaphone announcements. “The experience has left Morrissey in a catatonic state,” the statement read.

Last November, the “This Charming Man” crooner also canceled a number of tour dates — including five shows in South America — citing “extreme exhaustion,” per New Noise Magazine. Months earlier, he canceled two shows — one in Connecticut and one in Boston — following a “credible threat” to assassinate him during a performance in Ottawa, Canada.

“In recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey’s life,” read a post shared to the singer’s Facebook page on Sept. 19.

The threat against Morrissey was allegedly made by 26-year-old Noah Castellano, who stated in a Sept. 4 Bluesky post directed at the singer that he was going to “attempt to shoot you many times and kill you with a very large gun that I own illegally,” according to a report from the Ottawa Citizen. Castellano was subsequently arrested.
