Monica Bellucci Wears a Stunning Cartier High Jewelry Necklace to the BAFTAs

Actress Monica Bellucci knows how to make a jewelry statement. For the 2026 BAFTAs, she chose a Cartier High Jewelry necklace from their recent collection, En Équilibre. The necklace features diamonds and an asymmetrical composition of sapphires, and according to the New York Times, it was first shown in Stockholm in May 2025. She paired the statement jewels with an off-the-shoulder black Stella McCartney gown.

Bellucci has a storied history with Cartier; she is a longtime ambassador for the brand. “Each time I wear Cartier pieces it feels like stepping into a timeless moment,” she told Vogue Scandinavia in the spring. “High Jewelry is for me about emotion and memory, those moments stay with you.”

She adds, “To me, jewelry is a form of identity that can be feminine and powerful. There is a kind of seduction when you wear jewelry… When I was a teenager, I would see my mother and grandmother preparing to go out, and their final touch was jewelry. They would look proud and feminine wearing them. It is those moments that shaped my interest in jewelry.”

In 2006, Bellucci famously wore the María Félix crocodile necklace on the red carpet at Cannes. She is the only woman to wear the necklace besides Félix.

In 2019, she wore another Cartier necklace to Cannes—one that paid homage to Félix’s famous crocodile. The María Félix Tribute necklace, as it was called, was created of diamonds and emeralds totaling 46.45 carats.
