Marvel’s Wolverine just revealed one of its wildest costume mashups yet ahead of launch. A first look at the game’s fiery Ghost Rider-inspired Wolverine skin surfaced online just days before the title’s official release.

Marvel fans can play with a Ghost Rider Wolverine in new game

Marvel’s Wolverine features a Wolverine/Ghost Rider crossover skin, as first shared by DiscussingFilm on X. The outlet credited content creator @CabooseEK, who has over 680,000 YouTube subscribers, for the reveal. The image shows Wolverine riding a flaming motorcycle in full Ghost Rider-inspired attire.

Insomniac Games developed the action-adventure title exclusively for PlayStation 5. Sony Interactive Entertainment publishes the game, which releases on Sep. 15, 2026. Marcus Smith and Mike Daly serve as director and game director, respectively.

The game follows James “Logan” Howlett, a centuries-old mutant with retractable claws. He rejoins his former unit, Team X, to investigate mutant abductions by industrialist Bolivar Trask. The Reavers, Trask’s cybernetically-enhanced private militia, serve as primary antagonists throughout the story.

Marvel’s Wolverine exists within the same continuity as Insomniac’s Spider-Man series. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 creative director Bryan Intihar previously confirmed the shared universe, stating “they’re all Earth-1048.” The game features characters like Jean Grey, Mystique, Omega Red, Sabretooth, and Lady Deathstrike.

Insomniac first expressed interest in adapting Wolverine during development of Marvel’s Spider-Man in 2018. The studio officially announced the project at the PlayStation Showcase in September 2021. The team described the character’s appeal through his shared moral compass with Spider-Man.

The game currently holds a 78 out of 100 score on Metacritic. OpenCritic reports that 79 percent of critics recommend the title. Insomniac plans Marvel’s Wolverine as the first installment in an X-Men-focused trilogy.A cross-promotion with Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls allows players to unlock alternate costumes across both titles. The Ghost Rider skin joins several other cosmetic options available for players at launch.
