Madonna changed into the tiniest short shorts and lacy corset at the VMAs on September 27.

The Queen of Pop opened the show with a medley of Confessions II songs, bringing Sabrina Carpenter and Charli XCX on stage.

She swapped outfits to accept multiple awards.

That’s Madonna—VMAs 2026 Artist of the Year—to you! After opening the show with a medley of Confessions II songs, the Queen of Pop returned to the stage to win multiple awards. To accept her several Moon People, Madonna changed into another daring outfit.

The 68-year-old singer, who is nominated for a career-high 13 awards this year, ascended the stage with Sabrina Carpenter to accept Best Collaboration. As seen in a video posted to social media, she swapped her black silk robe and wine-colored lingerie bodysuit from her performance for the tiniest black leather short shorts and matching corset that featured spaghetti straps, lacy long sleeves, a bow accent, and a waist-winching silhouette. She added black fishnet tights and pointed-toe pumps.

Madonna kept her beauty look the same, styling her signature blonde hair down in waves with a middle part. Her bombshell glam included bright pink blush and glossy lips.

A few minutes later, Madonna got back on stage to accept Artist of the Year, this time adding a black leather jacket with silver accents. She began her remarks with a joke, saying, “First of all, I would like to thank my fingers because I can always count on them.”

The “Like a Virgin” continued, adding, “I performed at my first MTV Awards 23 years ago ... one of my stilettos fell off, and I dove onto the stage to try to make myself look cute and sexy and like I meant to do it. My dress went up, and my butt cheek was hanging out.” She said her manager at the time told her her “career was over” because of this moment.

She concluded with: “I spent the last year and a half finding myself, believing in myself, and really making the music that I wanted to make. To me, that really is the definition of being an artist. My hope for all of you here tonight is that you spend the next year, or the next 10 years, or the rest of your life, doing the same: finding yourself and believing in yourself.”
