Lisa Rinna Recalls Being 'Freaked Out' by Harry Hamlin While He Was Pursuing Her

Lisa Rinna was initially wary of her now-husband, Harry Hamlin, because he "was such a big star"
In a conversation for her book, You Better Believe I'm Gonna Talk About It, the actress revealed Hamlin called her for two weeks straight before she agreed to go out with him
"He had invited me to go to Aspen for Christmas. I was like, 'That's creepy,' " she shared
Lisa Rinna was initially a little skeptical about her now-husband Harry Hamlin's advances.
In a conversation on Feb. 26 for her new memoir, You Better Believe I'm Gonna Talk About It, the actress and reality TV star, 62, recalled meeting the LA Law actor. The two first crossed paths in 1992, but at the time, they were both in other relationships. Several months later, once they were both single, they ran into each other again. Soon after, Hamlin, 74, invited Rinna to join him on a holiday trip to Aspen, Colorado, but she shot him down.
“I was in Medford, Oregon, for Christmas and he was calling," she recalled. "[My mom, Lois] would answer the phone and she would be like, 'Harry Hamlin is on the phone.' And I just was very careful."
"I was kind of freaked out, to be honest, because he was such a big star at the time," she continued. "He was on LA Law. He'd been married to Nicolette [Sheridan] and it was overwhelming. So I didn't see myself in that league."

Despite her hesitancy, Hamlin didn't give up.
"Then he called me for two weeks straight in Medford. He had invited me to go to Aspen for Christmas. I was like, 'That's creepy,'" she said. "Most people would have jumped at it, right? It would have been like, 'Honey, I'm going to Aspen!' And I'm like, 'I'm going to stay at my parents' in Medford.' "
However, impressed by the Clash of the Titans actor's persistence after calling "every day for two weeks," she finally gave in.

"I think that's what finally got me to open up. I talked to him and I got to know him and he's so smart and he's kind and he's a great human,” Rinna shared.

The couple got engaged in 1997 and wed shortly after. They will celebrate their 29th anniversary next month. The pair share daughters Delilah, 27, and Amelia, 24, while Hamlin is also father to son Dimitri, 45, whom he shares with ex Ursula Andress, 89.

In May 2024, Rinna told PEOPLE that their lasting love is credited to "luck."
"I just think we got very lucky that we found each other," the Traitors star said.
"I mean, we really love each other and respect each other, so that's helpful, and I really like him as a human," she added. "I think he's a really good man and I feel really lucky. But I think it's very hard to find someone that you want to spend that much time with."
