Lena Dunham reveals she hasn't spoken to Adam Driver since “Girls” wrapped

Lena Dunham and Adam Driver haven't spoken since finishing Girls.

The former collaborators shared an emotional ride home after wrapping the series finale.

Dunham has also written in her memoir about alleged volatile behavior by Driver on set.

Lena Dunham has a lot to say about Adam Driver in her new book, but apparently the Girls collaborators haven't said anything to each other in almost a decade.

In her memoir, Famesick, Dunham reflected on the night that she and the Girls cast wrapped the HBO series (the finale aired in April 2017) and the subsequent ride home that she shared with Driver, not realizing that they wouldn't speak again after that.

"In the car, he held my hand in silence," Dunham said of Driver, who lived "directly across the street" from her. "When we reached our block, he took me in his arms. I let him kiss my cheek, my forehead. 'You, too,' I warbled. 'I know we've had our hard moments, that we are really different people. I'm sorry if the way I am ever wasn't good for... the way you are.' I didn't know how else to say it. 'It was just as it needed to be,' he said, sounding like a Jedi (maybe he'd picked up a few tricks). 'I hope you know I'll always love you.'"

Once Driver exited the van, Dunham says she stayed "motionless," hoping that this "reckoning" would mean a "different kind of future ahead of us," considering their complicated relationship during the show's run.

"Who knows—maybe I'd write him new parts," she shared. "We would tell new stories. We would laugh at the way things had been, and smile at the way they were now."

And yet, she revealed, "I never heard from him again."

Created by Dunham, the beloved — and often-controversial — HBO dramedy Girls featured her as aspiring writer Hannah Horvath and Driver as temperamental actor Adam Sackler, who served as Hannah's on-again, off-again boyfriend.

In Famesick, Dunham wrote both about Driver's alleged volatile behavior on the set of Girls and how they almost "crossed" a "boundary" in their personal relationship.

"We had felt like partners," Dunham said of Driver. "I ran decisions by him that weren't his to make. We rehearsed on weekends in his spare white living room, even when the scene was easy and didn't require it. He hugged me tight in the morning and again at the end of the day."
