Kim Kardashian says baseball’s long hours made her hesitant to let her sons Psalm and Saint play the sport

Her new show Team Moms follows parents navigating the intense world of youth baseball and its challenges

Kardashian and co-producer Natalie Ento bonded over their kids and shared experiences as sports moms

Kim Kardashian is not interested in being a baseball mom.

While chatting with PEOPLE alongside fellow executive producer Natalie Ento about her new project Team Moms: Baseball, The Kardashians star, 45, opened up about the one sport that she wouldn’t want her sons Psalm, 7, and Saint, 10, to play. Kardashian, who’s also a mom to daughters Chicago, 8, and North, 13, shared that she wouldn’t want her boys to play baseball because of the long hours that come with it.

“My boys wanted to play baseball, but it was at a phase where they wanted to try everything and every single sport,” she recalls. “I remember pulling up to the baseball field and like three hours in I’m like, ‘alright I think that other sport was way better for you.’”

Kardashian adds, “So like so much respect to baseball parents, like if you know you know. It’s long hours.”

Elsewhere, Kardashian broke down the origins of her new reality series, which is focused on a group of parents with kids attending a premier baseball training school in Scottsdale, Ariz.

“Every year, we take our kids on some sports adventure together,” Kardashian said of herself and longtime friend Ento. “Three years ago, we were in Spain, we were at a soccer tournament. Natalie’s a coach, so she was coming back, venting about stories and crazy situations and intense parents, passionate parents. And we kind of joked and said, ‘This would be such a riveting reality show. It would be insane.’”

The pair then brought the idea home and pitched it to a “bunch of different networks,” as Kardashian explained: “Everyone jumped on it.”

While Kardashian and Ento were going back and forth on whether they wanted the show to cover “soccer parents” or “basketball moms” — given their own kids’ affinity for different sports — they ultimately decided baseball was the way to go.

Ento’s own background in athletics as a coach and former player is what brought her together with Kardashian in the first place. They’ve been friends since Kardashian’s daughter North attended preschool with one of Ento’s children and met when Ento was coaching.

“We initially bonded on our children,” Ento said. “And they just took a love for each other. They genuinely are best friends. And, like she said, we just bonded on that. We have very different lifestyles, her and I ... totally opposite ends of the spectrum, but we really did relate on the love of our children.”

TeamMoms, Ento promised, offers “so many relatable experiences and familiarities” as mothers. Kardashian teased that she’s already gotten some positive feedback too.

“The one thing I’ve noticed about this show, I’ve never gotten a larger response of people saying, ‘Oh my God, I thought of that as a reality show. I was always hoping that that would be a reality show.’”

Team Moms follows women who are “dedicated to molding the next generation of star athletes” as drama “unfolds in the stands,” per a description from Paramount+.

“Friendships are tested, and rivalries emerge; proving that baseball is more than a game, it’s a lifestyle,” the description reads. The cast includes the Baldri, Feldhacker, Mears, Scoffone, Taylor and Wolczik families.

Team Moms — produced by ITV America (Love Island USA), Kim Kardashian Productions and Skydance Sports — is now streaming on Paramount+.
