Kid Rock is fending off the rumors that he lip-synced during his Turning Point USA halftime performance, which he admits was pre-taped.
During a Feb. 9 appearance on Fox News Monday, the rapper addressed social media speculation that he was not performing live during Turning Point's controversial "All-American Halftime Show," a conservative alternative to the Super Bowl's official halftime show, which was led by six-time Grammy winner Bad Bunny. Following the Sunday night performance, commenters pointed out that Kid Rock appeared to be out of sync with his music while performing "Bawitdaba."
Asked about the rumors by Fox News' Laura Ingraham, Kid Rock stated that it was nothing more than a "syncing issue," admitting that when he initially saw playback of the performance, he too noticed that his vocals appeared out of sync.
"It would have been super easy to sync it up if [the vocals were] pre-recorded," the rapper argued. "It was very difficult for the Turning Point production crew — who, by the way, I can't say enough good things about — but this was very difficult for them."

The "Redneck Paradise" singer continued, "I'm jumping around stage like a rabid monkey, rapping my song and I'm taking breaths and my DJ is filling in the other parts of it. I even told them when I saw the rough cut, I was like, 'You guys gotta work on that sync. It's off.' So it was just a syncing issue that they had, and I know they tried to get it right. It was very difficult."
The Turning Point hosted event drew roughly 6 million viewers during its initial livestream, while the archived YouTube video has accrued 21 million views as of Tuesday. Ratings for Bad Bunny's halftime show have not yet been revealed, but the YouTube upload presently boasts more than 55 million views.

Asked to comment on Bad Bunny's performance, Kid Rock quipped about the fact that the Puerto Rican superstar performed in Spanish: "Like most people, I didn't understand any of it," the rapper said. "I saw there's a lot of dancers. He said he wanted to have a dance party and it looks like he had one."
Bad Bunny's 13-minute set at the Super Bowl transported attendees and millions of viewers watching at home back to the sunny shores of Bayamón, with a thumping La Casita set full of dancers, tributes to the Latin American community, and celebrity cameos like Pedro Pascal and Cardi B. The performance also featured surprise songs from Lady Gaga and fellow Puerto Rican Ricky Martin.
Reflecting on the performance, Kid Rock said that Bad Bunny's music is "not [his] cup of tea."

He added, "I don't fault him for doing the Super Bowl, getting in front of a global audience. I fault the NFL for putting him in that position and Turning Point for having to come out and have an alternative for people to watch. You know, it's just — poor kid."
Turning Point, the organization co-founded by late right-wing activist Charlie Kirk in 2012, announced in October that it would host an alternative Super Bowl halftime show to rival Bad Bunny's performance. Initial flyers for the event claimed that the show would celebrate "faith, family and freedom," and included a survey for people to select which genres they would like to see represented. Listed options included "Americana," "Worship," and "Anything in English."

Bad Bunny, a.k.a. the King of Latin Trap, has emerged as one of the most successful musical acts in the world since his 2016 debut. The rapper, who just recently made history with his Album of the Year win at the 2026 Grammy Awards, was named this year's halftime show headliner on Sept. 28, which incited a wave of backlash from conservative pundits. Much of the outrage was fueled by the Puerto Rican singer's prior comments — revealing that he declined to bring his latest tour to the U.S. out of fear that ICE would target his concertgoers — in addition to his plans to perform the halftime show entirely in Spanish.
