Jimmy Kimmel Guest Host Anthony Anderson Rips Trump Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt After Ouster

Anthony Anderson poked fun at White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Wednesday night (August 12) after President Donald Trump confirmed she will be stepping down from the position.

The Black-ish actor, who is guest-hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week, addressed the situation during his opening monologue on Wednesday’s show, saying, “Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is stepping down at the end of the month. She said she wants to spend more time lying to her family.”

“Now, Leavitt has a toddler and a baby and a husband who’s 32 years older than her, so between that and working for Trump… it was just too many diapers to change,” he quipped.

Anderson went on to say, “We don’t know who the new press secretary will be or which beauty pageant she is the runner-up in. But if you’re interested in the job, send your resume, headshot, and cup size to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington Double-D.C.”

Trump announced Leavitt’s departure on social media on Wednesday, noting that she will leave her role to spend time with her young children and family, “a decision I totally understand and respect.”

“Karoline will now be one of my top outside advisors, and an influential voice within the Republican Party,” he added.

Leavitt (28), who welcomed her second child with husband Nicholas Riccio in May, shared her own statement on X, describing her job as “the honor and adventure of a lifetime.”

“Being a mother and welcoming a new baby while working in one of the most demanding jobs in the world has been the most rewarding yet challenging season of my life, to say the least,” she continued.

“The truth is since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary – and that is why I have ultimately made the bittersweet decision to depart the White House and embark on a new chapter in my life.”

Anderson is one of several guest hosts filling in for Kimmel during his summer hiatus. Previous hosts have included Tiffany Haddish, Ike Barinholtz, and Colman Domingo. Former View co-host Rosie O’Donnell is set to guest-host next week.
