Jameis Winston praised Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's relationship in a new interview ahead of the couple's upcoming wedding

New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston approves of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's romance.

While chatting with Us Weekly at Netflix's MLB Opening Night: Yankees vs. Giants broadcast at Oracle Park in San Francisco on Wednesday, March 25, the NFL player raved about Kelce and Swift's relationship ahead of their upcoming wedding."In terms of love, man, being able to unconditionally choose who you want to spend the rest of your life with is truly the greatest decision that you’ll ever have in your life," Winston, 32, said. "And with his choice, being one of the most amazing women in the world, [who] has influenced so many cultures, so many people with her music… it’s gonna be a beautiful thing."

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end and the mega pop star, both 36, confirmed their relationship in October 2023, three months after Kelce failed to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it at one of her Eras Tour concerts. The couple announced their engagement two years later on Aug. 26, 2025 by posting photos from their garden proposal, which took place directly after they filmed their record-shattering Aug. 13th episode for New Heights.

“I found it beautiful that at the end of the day, they’re still in a relationship, just like the average Joe,” Winston continued. “And that takes work, and it requires the same level of dedication and passion that it did to get them to their level of expertise in their profession.”

Winston praised how the soon-to-be bride and groom have handled their romance amid all the public attention. "It’s funny just to see how their relationship has grown and the public scrutiny or the public praise that they’ve received," he told Us Weekly. "He’s the top of his tier in football and she’s the top of her tier in everything."

For his part, Winston tied the knot with his wife, Breion, in 2020.

The couple celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary on March 27. They marked the milestone in a joint post on Instagram, which Winston captioned: "Breezy Boo, 6 years of being married to you has helped me realized that no matter what I have experienced in my life choosing to marry you is the best decision I’ve ever made. Today will always be the day that is proof that my absolute greatest words said was I do to you! Happy anniversary! Love You Babi Boo, Jaboo."

In September, a source exclusively told PEOPLE that Kelce and Swift will keep their wedding out of the spotlight. “It will definitely be a private affair and not a spectacle,” the source said. “They both have a close circle of friends, and they’ll respect their privacy."
