CBS Mornings anchor Gayle King should be the poster child for Beyoncé's hit song Pretty Hurts, given how stringent her morning routine is.
The 71-year-old television anchor recently revealed that her mornings begin exactly at 3:24 a.m., and though she "still isn't used to" waking up that early, she's learned to deal with it. Gayle's early-morning start comes as she needs to head to the CBS studio every day to film her famous morning program.
“I’m still not used to it, but I’ve just accepted that it’s my reality,” King shared in an interview with WSJ Magazine last week. “It’s the job that I have; I still love the job. So it doesn’t do any good to moan and b---h about it. But it really is brutal.” It comes as King was reportedly unhappy with the potential morning show.

King continued, “I love the Apple watch because it gives you so much data. It shows me all the sleep I’m not getting.” As the star host of her daytime talk show and starting her mornings so early, she rarely gets an 8-hour rest each night.
“When I say this to doctors, they go, ‘Oh, my God, Gayle,’ and then you get a whole big lecture,” King expressed, before she divulged low-hour sleep amount. “I would say four to five hours. If I sleep six hours, I’m doing a fricking hula.”

Surprisingly, Oprah Winfrey's best friend doesn't rely on caffeine to keep the pep in her step throughout the day or even wake her up in the early morning. During the week, the author of The Book of Menopause doesn't drink any caffeine, but she does eat a full breakfast.
Also, King will either drink coconut water with pineapple or enjoy a white hot chocolate from Starbucks. Additionally, King doesn't do morning workouts either.
“I never exercise during the week in the mornings,” she revealed. “Do you know what time I have to get up to do that? I go super hard on the weekends and exercise every day when I’m on vacation.”
Although he morning routine might be unconventional, the Oprah Daily editor still strives to keep her mornings as stress-free as she can, and that starts with her kicking off each day with a relaxing bubble bath.

King admitted, “Some days are more hectic than others," with one of her challenges sometimes being her wardrobe.
“The biggest stress for me is picking out what I want to wear,” King divulged. “I know I should do it the night before. I just never do. If it’s a more serious interview, then I would wear a darker color.”
Despite the challenges and the business of her schedule, she wouldn't change it for anything.
“People say to me, ‘I don’t know how you do it,’” King remarked. “I so love being on the planet, so love being able to do what I’m doing at this stage of my life, at this speed.”
