Jenny Marrs is feeling grateful after a scary situation went down on her and Dave Marrsā€˜ family farm in Arkansas.

ā€œI’m so thankful for this peaceful morning on the farm after a little chaos late last nightā€¦ā€ the Fixer to Fabulous star began a lengthy Instagram post on Monday, August 10. ā€œAs we all settled in bed, we heard a banging on the front door. It startled us all and, once Dave opened the door, our neighbor’s son explained that as he was coming home for the night, he saw a horse, a donkey and an alpaca strolling down our dirt road toward the adjacent highway. He and his mom jumped into action and barricaded the road with their vehicles to push Sadie, Daddy Donk and Alfie back home.ā€

Jenny said she and Dave ā€œquickly threw on shoes, woke up the kids, and raced outsideā€ to help their escaped animals. ā€œBen and Charlotte jumped on the ranger so that she could get Sadie’s halter, I turned right out of the drive in the minivan and Dave went left in his truck,ā€ she detailed. ā€œOur neighbor and her son were parked near the Berry Farm and she pointed us in the direction of the animals. She and her son blocked the exits, I called Ben, and we met at the end of an adjacent driveway, where we could see the three musketeers hiding in a cluster of trees.ā€

Jenny said her daughter Charlotte approached the horse ā€œalone and slowly,ā€ as she knew ā€œSadie would respond best to her.ā€ At the time they reached the animals, Jenny said they ā€œwere all very spookedā€ and ā€œready to dart off at any moment.ā€ They turned off their car headlights to not add to the animals’ stress, meaning Charlotte had to place the halter on the horse ā€œin the pitch black of night.ā€ (The couple shares five kids: Nathan, Ben, Sylvie, Charlotte, and Luke.)

Jenny shared, ā€œAfter several attempts, and the most calm-under-pressure demeanor, she did it and started to lead Sadie toward the front pasture gate. Daddy Donk and Alfie refused to follow and ran back toward the safety of the trees. I ran to the stable and got a bucket of treats (all still in the dark) as Ben held the pasture gate ready to close. Finally, slowly, with treats in hand, we were able to lead all three into the pasture. We had to remain calm, speak softly, and use measured, slow movements.ā€

Dave & Jenny Marrs Take Fans Inside 'Fixer to Fabulous' Season 8 Filming

Just as they got the animals inside, Jenny said Dave called and revealed that their cows had also escaped. ā€œSomehow, the main gate had been flown wide open, letting everyone run free (while scared and confused). After creating a barricade and pushing the cows out of the berry fields, we were able to get them safely back [inside],ā€ she wrote.

Fans shared their reactions to the family’s scary night in the post’s comments, with one writing, ā€œOh boy! Brings back memories of our horses getting out during a heavy rain storm. We ran down the highway barefooted screaming at people to stay in their cars. The horses were having a ball but we felt like we were having heart attacks! Glad your babies are home safe. Good neighbors are golden!ā€

Another added, ā€œā€˜A horse, a donkey and an alpaca were walking down the road’.. sounds like the start of a bad joke. But it wasn’t. I love to hear how your family works like a team.. no blame, no yelling, just remaining calm because calmly is how it needed to be done. And then looking for God’s blessings in the chaos. Great work all of you.ā€

Someone else quipped, ā€œOMG I held my breathe the whole time reading this. Next time please start with ā€˜all animals are ok’…ha!!!ā€ A different person posted, ā€œYou have good and caring neighbors. Luckily for you, your animals are food driven…..most animals I guess are….and even some humans too.ā€

The farm incident occurred as Jenny and Dave are in the process of filming Season 8 of HGTVā€˜s Fixer to Fabulous. ā€œThis year, we have a lot. We’ve got a lot of projects going on,ā€ Jenny exclusively told TV Insider in June.
