FIFA is planning to sell tiny portions of the grass from the World Cup final field for substantial sums of money.
Following what has already been the largest World Cup in history - featuring 48 teams competing in 104 total matches for the first time in the tournament's existence - with captivating narratives emerging throughout, FIFA is projected to generate millions of additional dollars in revenue once the matches conclude.
The World Cup final, scheduled for Sunday, July 19 at 3 pm ET at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, is anticipated to draw more than a billion viewers worldwide as two nations compete for soccer's most coveted prize.

Once the final whistle sounds and a champion is determined, FIFA will distribute thousands of commemorative packages containing portions of the turf from the final match.
Four distinct options - the Foundation Edition, Stadium Edition, Legacy Edition, and Hero Edition - are available for purchase on the website of UK-based memorabilia firm KeepStub, each priced differently based on what's included.

The Foundation Edition represents the most affordable choice at $450 and features a 2.5-inch by 2.5-inch by 2.5-inch cube of turf from the World Cup final pitch permanently encased in acrylic.
The grass arrives in a hinged box accompanied by a USB drive containing the authenticity film.
The Stadium Edition, characterized as "a step up from the Foundation Edition" by FIFA, is offered at $900.

Alongside the identical-sized grass cube, the item includes a gold-etched metal commemorative ticket and signed authenticity certificate housed in a "premium presentation case."
The Legacy Edition, priced at $1,200, features an official miniature replica World Cup soccer ball together with the grass piece within a "premium embossed box" that is "adorned with storytelling."
The highest-priced option is the Hero Edition, retailing at $3,000.
FIFA characterizes this package as a "luxury collectible" that contains a crystal-cut glass World Cup trophy, together with the commemorative ticket, authenticity certificate, miniature replica ball, and grass cube, all contained within a large wooden box.
With 2,026 units offered per edition, the complete inventory encompasses 8,104 pieces across the four tiers.
Should FIFA achieve a complete sellout, the collection would produce over $11.2 million in revenue.
Each product page features a notice stating "exact delivery dates cannot be guaranteed at the time of purchase."
Purchases are restricted to customers located in the United States, United Kingdom, and Europe, with shipments scheduled to begin following the conclusion of the World Cup final.
