Closer reported that, until recently, ex-Prince Andrew’s daughters mostly avoided any scrutiny tied to the royal family’s long-running controversy due to Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. But that has now changed. Now, the sisters are reportedly under pressure to address questions that have followed their family for years.

A source told Closer, “There’s a growing feeling that staying quiet is no longer an option, that there’s an obligation for them to tell their side to the right people,” suggesting they may feel a separate need to protect their own reputations in the court of public opinion.

Moreover, the source said, “Doing a sit-down interview is not their style but a tasteful and measured memoir with the facts and a lot of emotion is an option that’s being put forth.” Per the source, the motivation goes beyond palace politics. In that, the sisters still love their parents, “but more than that, they want to protect their own kids.” Hence, “There’s a sense that if they don’t take control of the narrative now, they may never get the chance.”

At the same time, a royal commentator, Richard Fitzwilliams, told the Daily Mail, “It may fall to William to make a decision on the future of Beatrice and Eugenie,” adding that they are not “particularly close” to Prince William or Kate Middleton, and said they “would probably not miss them.” However, Closer reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may support the York sisters behind the scenes.
