I saw Dua Lipa perform at Austin City Limits in 2024, and my life hasn’t been the same since. I loved it all: her dancing, her outfits, her music. So when I recently heard about one of her favorite snacks, I was sure I’d love that too. And I wasn’t wrong.
When the pop star posted a photo of a bag of potato chips on her Instagram, I was intrigued. These weren’t just any ol’ bag of plain potato chips (no shade — I adore all potato chips). They were an Italian brand I’d never heard of before, and they looked pretty fancy.

And did I mention they were pesto-flavored? I knew I had to get a bag to try myself. Here’s my honest review.

The brand is called Tartuflanghe, and it is based in Alba, a town in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy. The company specializes in mushrooms and truffles, but also sells specialty items like anchovy butter, pistachio pesto, and gourmet snacks. Dua Lipa posted about Tartuflanghe’s pesto chips, but of course the brand has a white truffle flavor too.
The brand’s products can be found in gourmet shops and delicatessens in Italy and all around the world. I did have to order my bag from the website, but it arrived quickly within just a few days. (They’re currently sold out at Eataly.)
These pesto chips are the real deal. They are seasoned with freeze-dried pesto powder, and it’s Genoese pesto, the traditional kind made with basil in Genoa, Italy. Freeze-drying helps preserve the quality, flavor, and color of the pesto. The chips are a darker yellow color than most American chips, which the brand attributes to frying them exclusively in olive and sunflower oils.

I love pesto, but I had never seen a pesto-flavored potato chip before Dua Lipa posted these. I’m glad she did, because these chips are delicious. The pesto flavor is so prominent and fresh; it tastes like you are eating homemade pesto instead of just a dusting of artificial flavor. The freeze-dried pesto is made with Genovese basil, Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, pine nuts, Fiore Sardo cheese, salt, and garlic from Vessalico, Italy (a mountain town known for its prized variety of garlic). The ingredient list is similar to what you might find in an classic basil pesto recipe.

The chips are a little thicker than most American brands and have a stronger crunch. I do love a light and airy chip that’s more crispy than crunchy, but here, the thicker chip lends itself more to scooping and piling on toppings for a real aperitif experience. These would pair well with lots of different flavors, including prosciutto, caviar, and truffle, and you never need to worry about them breaking or crumbling apart.
I had a few people around the office try the Tartuflanghe chips as well, and everyone was a fan. Ivy Peterson, who loves traditional pesto, gave them a big thumbs-up. “They really do taste like they’re dusted in pesto sauce,” said Director of Groceries and Shopping Mara Weinraub. “I’d dip these in fresh ricotta and pretend I’m vacationing in Italy with Dua.” I’m ready to do the same.
