Sean “Diddy” Combs has been ordered to pay nearly half a million dollars in legal fees after he unsuccessfully sued NBC over its documentary, Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy.
In his civil complaint, which was filed in New York in early 2025, Combs alleged that the documentary had defamed him. Peacock was also named as a defendant.
After a judge dismissed the suit in May, NBCUniversal demanded nearly $1 million in legal fees from Combs.
Judge Phaedra F. Perry-Bond ruled Tuesday, Oct. 6, that Combs would be responsible for $477,700.50.
“NBCUniversal sought nearly $1 million in attorneys’ fees, and the Court found substantial portions of those fees excessive and unreasonable, cutting their request by more than half,” Juda Engelmayer, a spokesperson for Combs, told PEOPLE in a statement. “The Court reduced the amount sought by more than $512,000 and awarded approximately $478,000.”
Combs sought $100 million in his suit against NBC, whom he claimed, in part, “shamelessly advances conspiracy theories that lack any foundation in reality, repeatedly insinuating that Mr. Combs is a serial killer.”

The documentary features interviews with the music mogul’s sexual misconduct accusers as well as former associates, including singer Al B. Sure!, who seemingly floated the possibility that Combs’ ex Kim Porter had been murdered.

Combs is currently incarcerated at FCI Fort Dix, a low-security federal prison in New Jersey.
The Bad Boy Records founder was sentenced to 50 months in prison after being found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution following a lengthy, high-profile federal trial in New York City.
Combs’ release date was recently pushed back to March 2028, after it had been previously moved up to January of that year.
