Daniel Radcliffe said his partner Erin Darke is “a huge part of my happiness” while speaking about his return to Broadway in the play, Every Brilliant Thing
“There is something about being truly known and understood and seen by another human being,” he said
Radcliffe and Darke met in 2012 while playing love interests in the movie Kill Your Darlings
Daniel Radcliffe is grateful for the love in his life.
The 36-year-old actor said his partner of more than a decade, actress Erin Darke, is “a huge part of my happiness” while speaking about his return to Broadway in the play Every Brilliant Thing with moderator Josh Horowitz at an event at 92nd Street Y in New York City on April 9.
“One of the most moving parts of the show, to me, is that there's a moment when I'm talking about my love interest and I'm talking about how well they know me. There is something about being truly known and understood and seen by another human being. That is why love exists,” he said.
Radcliffe continued to share that his longtime partner has "obviously been a huge part of my happiness.”

The Harry Potter alum said he relates to a scene in the show where he discusses “the idea of things getting better.”
“There have been moments in my life, in my late teens and early 20s, when I was really sad and scared and didn't know what the future would hold for me or how I was gonna look back on my life. I would never have believed then that I would be experiencing the happiness that I am now with my partner, with my son and with my life in general,” he said.
Radcliffe and Darke met in 2012 while playing love interests in the movie Kill Your Darlings. The English actor later revealed that he wasn't acting when they filmed together because his flirting was actually real.

"It'll be a hell of a story to tell our kids one day because of what our characters do with each other," Radcliffe told PEOPLE in 2019. "Our characters are meeting and flirting with each other, so there is this kind of sweet record of us just meeting for the first time and flirting."
The couple welcomed a a baby boy in 2023.

Every Brilliant Thing, by Duncan Macmillan and Jonny Donahoe, is playing at N.Y.C.'s Hudson Theater. The solo play, directed by Jeremy Herrin and Macmillan, follows a man as he looks back at his life and its small joys.
Mariska Hargitay will take over for Radcliffe in her Broadway debut after he concludes his run on May 24.
Radcliffe was last on Broadway in the 2023 revival of Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along with Jonathan Groff and Lindsay Mendez. The role earned him his first Tony Award since making his Broadway debut in the 2008 revival of Equus.
