Dakota Johnson is addressing the speculation surrounding her dating life.

During a visit to The Run-Through podcast, Johnson explained why she doesn’t bother to shut down false rumors.

“People are gonna believe what they wanna believe,” she insisted.

The speculation may rage on, but Dakota Johnson is keeping her dating life to herself.

The Verity actress is well aware of the gossip surrounding her personal life but insists that there’s no point in clearing up false rumors since new whispers will always take their place.

“Even if I go to dinner with my manager or my lawyer, it’s like, ‘Seen with mystery man,’” Johnson pointed out during a Sept. 25 episode of Vogue’s The Run-Through podcast. “I also don’t care.”

Asked if she ever feels the need to step in and set the record straight, Johnson replied, “I think it’s just futile. People are gonna believe what they wanna believe, and I don’t have the energy to fight for that.”

Johnson added that she “would much rather” put her focus elsewhere.

“Every day, there’s something on the internet that’s ridiculous and true or not true, and I don’t care,” she said.

Currently, the raging speculation surrounds Johnson’s rumored romance with rapper Machine Gun Kelly, with sources claiming that the duo noticed a spark while attending Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s summer wedding at Madison Square Garden.

Ultimately, Johnson didn’t address any specific rumors on the podcast. But she did share a snarky three-word message for those pondering her romantic entanglements: “Get a life,” she said.

As for her relationship to social media, as someone frequently in the spotlight, the Materialists star said she does her best to avoid scrolling.

“Maybe when I was in my younger 20s, I had a moment of being on social media just for fun and laughs,” she said. “‘Cause I love a clever thing. But I just don’t f--k with it.”

Johnson added that while there is a level of engagement that she can’t avoid, as she sometimes needs social media“for work,” she otherwise steers clear.

“I feel really uncomfortable with the constant documenting of people’s lives,” she said.

Neither Johnson nor MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, have addressed the budding relationship, but earlier this month a source told PEOPLE that the pair “hit it off” at the Swift-Kelce wedding and have been spending time together “under the radar for months.” The duo have since been photographed out and about in New York City.

Johnson added some fuel to the fire during a recent Vogue interview, in which she was asked about her history of dating musicians.

“They like me,” Johnson said, a reference to her romantic links with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and indie singer Role Model. “I don’t know what to say. And I like them.”

The interviewer replied, “What’s not to like?”

Johnson then quipped, “A lot! A lot. Tricky motherf---ers.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, the actress explained her desire for privacy, sharing that she prefers to keep her daily life on the down-low.

“I am obsessed with people not knowing where I am or what I’m doing,” she said. “I’m far too porous and sensitive and present. I don’t — I can’t deal.”
