Football analyst Cris Collinsworth quietly spent eight seasons catching passes in the NFL and truly became a household name decades later talking about the sport on television, but one of the biggest behind-the-scenes plays of his career has paid off like a league contract.
Collinsworth's net worth is estimated at around $25 million, but the actual figure could be much higher following a blockbuster 2026 deal with Pro Football Focus.
The NBC mainstay bought a majority stake in PFF back in 2014 for about $6 million, transforming a niche NFL grading site into a data powerhouse used across the NFL, college football, and media.

That gamble paid off in a big way after Private equity giant Silver Lake poured $50 million into PFF in 2021 at a reported $160 million valuation, and one report pegged the company's peak at $223 million.
Teamworks acquired PFF's enterprise data and analytics operation in March 2026, though the official financial terms were not disclosed. Reports put the deal at more than $100 million, with earlier coverage valuing it between $130 million and $140 million.
Collinsworth and PFF's other investors became Teamworks shareholders, while Collinsworth also took an advisory role with the company.

He retained control of PFF's separate consumer-facing media business, which includes betting tools and market insights. Collinsworth's personal payout or ownership percentage in Teamworks has not been made public, and neither has the exact value of his remaining PFF stake.
The growth from a roughly $6 million purchase to a business capable of producing a nine-figure transaction represents a remarkable return on Collinsworth's original gamble.
Collinsworth's TV run has been just as lucrative. NBC's lead Sunday Night Football analyst since 2009, he reportedly pulls in $12.5 million a year and just inked an extension to stay on the air through 2029.

PFF has not always been universally popular among the players it grades. Former QB sack artist J.J. Watt has repeatedly criticized the company's player-grading system, arguing that analysts can't foresee a player's exact assignment from broadcast film alone.
Chris Jones, Taylor Lewan, and other current and former players have also publicly questioned PFF grades, while some former players have praised the company's broader data tools even as they express reservations about the grading system.

Collinsworth still draws plenty of heat for his analyst style every Sunday night on NBC and Peacock.
The 25-year broadcast veteran has been criticized for his obsession with Carrie Underwood, his continued 'gushing' over Patrick Mahomes, and for jinxing top NFL stars with comments directly before shocking moments.
