Chad’s family confirmed the death of 13-year-old Fiona in a statement to PEOPLE on Sept. 29
Chad Lowe’s 17-year-old daughter, Mabel, is honoring the life of her 13-year-old sister, Fiona.
Following Fiona’s death on Sept. 29, Mabel shared an emotional post on Instagram, featuring photos of the two sisters taken throughout their childhood.
“I love you so much, Fiona,” Mabel wrote in the Oct. 3 post, alongside photos of the sisters dancing together when Fiona was a toddler and Fiona posing for a dance portrait. “I wish your short time here was easier and I hope your mind is at ease now.”
“I will honor you forever and keep your memory alive. I love you, I hope you knew just how much,” Mabel added.

The Lowe family shared the news of Fiona’s death in a statement to PEOPLE on Sept. 29, writing, “We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona.”
The family remembered Fiona as “a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance.”

“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents,” the family said. “In fact, she was the light of our lives.”

Fiona was the second of Chad and wife Kim Painter’s three daughters. The pair are also parents to Mabel and Nixie, 10.
Following the news of Fiona’s death, a source told PEOPLE on Sept. 30 that the teen’s school and community were coming together to honor her memory.
“The school and community are very inclusive, artistic, a warm place. Parents are friends and most are involved with the school. This is a devastating time for the community,” the insider told PEOPLE. “The Lowe family is very involved and are at many school functions.”
“Fiona was sweet, quiet and kind. Dance was her biggest passion. She had a very artistic soul,” the source added. “She was always kind to other students. Many of her friends are out today grieving.”
Another source told PEOPLE that Chad’s older brother, 62-year-old actor Rob Lowe, and the rest of the Lowe family are rallying around the Bones alum and his wife.
“Rob and Chad are very close. Their family and friends have rallied around Chad and Kim,” the insider said. “Everyone’s heartbroken.”
“They already went through so much with losing their home last year [in the Los Angeles wildfires],” the source continued. “Right now, the focus is on being there for them in any way they can.”
