Celebrate 29 years of 'South Park' with a 24-hour marathon

Fans can celebrate the 29th anniversary of "South Park" with a 24-hour television marathon on Thursday, Aug. 13.

"South Park" is taking over the Comedy Central channel with back-to-back episodes from 6 a.m. ET on Thursday until 6 a.m. ET/PT on Friday, Aug. 14. The 48-episode marathon marks "South Park Day," the anniversary of the series premiere in 1997.

The marathon will include fan-favorite episodes such as "Sermon on the 'Mount," the premiere episode of the 27th season from last summer, which earned the show one of its three Emmy nominations ("Outstanding Animated Series"), according to Comedy Central.

The other two Emmy nominations are for outstanding music and lyrics for "Christian Woman," a song in "The Crap Out" episode, and outstanding character voice-over performance (Trey Parker as Satan in "The Crap Out").

When does the new season of 'South Park' start?

New episodes of "South Park," created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, will begin Sept. 16 at 10 p.m. ET, on Comedy Central. It's the 29th anniversary of the TV show, which debuted in 1997.

Subsequent new episodes will premiere on Wednesdays: Sept. 30, Oct. 14, Oct. 28, Nov.11, and Nov. 25. New episodes will be available to stream on Paramount+ with next-day availability in the United States.
