“We are extremely grateful to report that all members of Buckcherry and our touring crew are safe and unharmed,” the band told their fans in an Instagram Stories update
They added, “Tragically, authorities have confirmed that the collision that occurred ahead of our bus resulted in a fatality”
Rock band Buckcherry’s tour bus was involved in a fatal multi-vehicle accident while on the road for their national tour.
On Friday, Aug. 21, Buckcherry shared in a social media statement that their tour bus was “involved in a multi-vehicle accident on I-26 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina,” around 2 a.m.
“We are extremely grateful to report that all members of Buckcherry and our touring crew are safe and unharmed,” the band wrote on their Instagram Stories. “Tragically, authorities have confirmed that the collision that occurred ahead of our bus resulted in a fatality.”
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and loved ones of the person who lost their life,” they continued. “We sincerely appreciate everyone who has reached out with concern and support.”

The South Carolina Department of Transportation reported an incident in which a pedestrian was hit and killed while standing on I-26 East around mile marker 31, according to local outlets WSPA, WYFF4 and FOX Carolina.

After the pedestrian, whose identity has not been revealed, got out of his vehicle, he was allegedly hit by a Toyota sedan and pronounced dead at the scene, per the outlets. All eastbound lanes were shut down for several hours.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the South Carolina Department of Transportation did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
The fatal accident occurred as the members of Buckcherry — including lead vocalist Josh Todd, guitarist Stevie D., bassist Kelly LeMieux, drummer Francis Ruiz and guitarist Billy Rowe — were traveling for their Roar Like Thunder Tour.

The band’s scheduled performance at the Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is expected to “proceed as planned” on Saturday, Aug. 22.
The tour, which is expected to end on Sept. 6 in Orlando, is in support of the band’s 11th album, Roar Like Thunder, which came out in June 2025.
