Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor have finalized their custody agreement for their 4-year-old son Cruz

They agreed on a holiday schedule and a six-month timeline for introducing Cruz to partners

The two have also agreed to sobriety while parenting, which comes after Taylor shared in March 2025 that he has had "substance issues – primarily with cocaine"

Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor have finalized their custody agreement for their son.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the former couple has come to an agreement regarding custody and child support of their son Cruz, 4. Cartwright and Taylor will share joint legal custody and physical custody. Taylor will have custody of Cruz every other weekend and on Wednesday nights, while Cartwright will have him all other days.

The two will also convene on decisions regarding Cruz's health, education and general welfare. However, if they can't agree, Cartwright will have final say in Cruz's health decisions. Neither will pay child support.

They've also set a holiday schedule and a timeline for their son to meet his parents' future partners — per the documents, Cartwright and Taylor will have to wait six months before introducing Cruz to any significant others. They have also agreed not to be under the influence of alcohol, marijuana or other drugs while Cruz is in their custody.

Cartwright and Taylor have also agreed to attempt to celebrate Cruz's birthdays together and have agreed not to speak badly of each other in front of their son.

In August 2024, Cartwright filed for divorce from Taylor nearly six months after announcing that she was taking time apart from her former husband. At the time, she filed for primary custody of Cruz.

The California files showed that The Valley star requested legal and physical custody of their son, but asked that the court grant Taylor visitation rights. Cartwright also asked the court to terminate spousal support to both parties.

Then, in October of that year, Taylor filed a response to Cartwright's initial divorce filing, requesting that Cartwright receive full legal and physical custody of their son. Regarding child support, Taylor checked the box for "other," according to the document obtained by PEOPLE.

After Cartwright filed for divorce, a source told PEOPLE that her focus was on her son as she and Taylor worked to become friendly co-parents.

"This step has been a long time coming and something Brittany knew she had to do for the best interest of herself and her son in order to move forward and put a stop to this tumultuous cycle they've been living in," said the source.

"Jax is feeling mixed emotions. He knows this is ultimately the right decision but is sad that things ended up the way they have. It's an emotional month for him and he's trying to stay strong for his son."

In March 2025, Taylor shared on Bravo's Hot Mic podcast that he has had "substance issues – primarily with cocaine" for the past 20 years, adding that one of the reasons he's trying to get sober is for his son Cruz.

"The big thing here is my son. He’s my drive and he’s my No. 1 driver for this,” the former Vanderpump Rules star candidly shared.

"Obviously, I’m not the type of person who can have one drink and be okay. It’s just not in my cards, and I had to stop. I was going to lose custody," he went on. "I’m embarrassing my ex-wife and I’m embarrassing myself. Nobody’s looking at me seriously. I want to do it for myself.”
