I Will Find You, adapted from Harlan Coben's 2023 novel, is now on Netflix
Britt Lower and Erin Richards forged such a strong friendship while filming I Will Find You that they even spent a holiday together.
The Emmy winner tells PEOPLE about the Netflix hit and creating off-screen friendships that translated into strong onscreen dynamics.
Lower, 40, stars in Netflix's new Harlan Coben series alongside Sam Worthington and Erin Richards. Lower plays Rachel, the sister of Richards' Cheryl and the former sister-in-law of Worthington's David.
Rachel and David work together to track down David's young son, Matthew, whom he was wrongfully convicted of killing, after discovering the boy may actually be alive.
Lower reveals how she and Richards, 42, were able to portray the sisters' relationship. "I don't have a sister in my real life, but I've always wanted one and I felt really kindred with Erin," she says. "We had a great time bonding."

She explains that during the five months of production in Toronto, their friendship grew so much that their families got to know one another and they were able to spend quality time together.
"We spent an Easter Sunday together," she reveals. "So it was really kind of a sweet, pretending we were sisters for the whole time."

Lower says forging the close bond was essential because, despite parental relationships driving the thrilling series, the connection between the two sisters stands out.
"It's really at the core of Rachel's drive," she explains. "The whole series is her love for her sister, her loyalty to her family."
She adds that Rachel and David have an unspoken kinship. "That relationship is why she doesn't go to Cheryl first with the photograph [of Matthew]. Cheryl's newly married, she's expecting a baby girl, and Rachel doesn't want to disrupt that harmony that she's just now found, so she goes to David to test her instinct."

Lower, also known for Severance, says exploring the relationship came easily, with help from the "treasure trove" that Coben wrote. "You not only have his book, the resource of him and where these ideas came from in the first place, but you also have the generosity of Harlan Coben."
"He really lets us in on this process of the book, which is a jumping off point, and we're here to step into the characters' points of view to step in their shoes and really move through the world as a physical being," she says.
"It was super collaborative and fun to find the nuance of how the characters jump off the page and become real people."
I Will Find You is now streaming on Netflix.
