- "Britney was enjoying a quiet dinner with her assistant and bodyguard. She was simply telling the story about how her dog was barking at the neighbors," the rep said.
- This incident comes two months after Spears was arrested for DUI. She ultimately pleaded guilty to reckless driving and avoided jail time.
Britney Spears' rep is speaking out following reports that the singer was acting "erratic" during a night out in Los Angeles with friends.
In a statement to ** on Thursday, Spears' rep said the reports regarding the Wednesday evening out are "completely blown out of proportion." "Britney was enjoying a quiet dinner with her assistant and bodyguard. She was simply telling the story about how her dog was barking at the neighbors."
The rep continued: "At no point did she put anyone in danger with a knife. She was cutting her hamburger in half. This constant attack on everything that she does and this is exactly what happened 20 years ago when the media tried to depict Britney as a bad person. This is ridiculous and it needs to stop now."

Earlier on Thursday, TMZ, citing sources, reported that Spears' outing at Blue Dog Tavern in Sherman Oaks became "erratic" when the singer raised her voice. Per the outlet's sources, she also allegedly walked by the table of other customers holding a knife.

These reports come days after the "Toxic" singer opened up following her "spiritual journey" after her reckless driving plea which involves entering rehab, calling it a "blessing in disguise." Spears was arrested in March in Ventura, Calif. on suspicion of a DUI, and was later charged with one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol in April.

"This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney's life," her rep said in March following the arrest. "Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time."
On May 4, she pleaded guilty to reckless driving involving alcohol, drugs or both. She avoided jail time since she did not have a prior DUI history, had a low blood alcohol level at the time of the incident, and no one was injured.
As part of the plea deal, Spears is also paying a $571 fine, serving 12 months probation, and will participate in a three-month substance abuse program.

On May 9, the singer thanked her friends for their support. "I'm so damn thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey," the singer wrote in part on Instagram, calling the reckless driving incident "a blessing in disguise."
"I still have to learn how to be kind to myself and the way I speak to myself… It's a never-ending journey and sometimes I just stop, look up, and say, 'Wow, God, I think that was you' and smile on!!!!" she concluded.
