Ben Affleck Reveals the Hilarious Way His Kids Roasted Him About His Dating History

Ben Affleck opened up about how his three kids no longer want to hear his dating advice.
He recently told a story about sharing lessons about relationships with his kids when one of them expertly roasted him.
“I couldn’t imagine I wouldn’t be the cool dad,” Affleck said.
Ben Affleck’s three children are not letting him off the hook for his past dating decisions. The 54-year-old actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on September 24, where he spoke about how his kids—Violet, 20, Fin, 17, and Samuel, 14—have reached an age where they aren’t interested in their dad’s advice.

“Now I, like, give advice or try to talk to them like a parent, as you do,” Affleck said. “But what I’ve found is that now it’s not only one teenager rolling their eyes… now I catch them giving each other looks. And I realize I’m the caricature in this story.”
He continued, “I see them be like, ‘Dad is saying this and that…’”
Kimmel, who is a father of four himself, added in that, “On one hand, you’re kinda happy that your kids are on like the same team. But then on the other hand, you’re the opponent.”

The Good Will Hunting actor said at one point he was having dinner with his kids as they were discussing their “friends and the drama and their relationships.” “And I have some lived experience, I think, that’s worth sharing,” he said, adding, “some lessons that I [learned].”

But when he tried to dish out some specific advice about relationships, 17-year-old Fin turned to him and said, “Oh, like you’re the expert on relationships?”
Affleck, who has been married twice, laughed, recalling the moment, later saying, “I couldn’t imagine I wouldn’t be the cool dad.”

He then recalled he was in a bookstore with Fin when they saw a book on the shelves titled “I’m Sorry for Everything.” Fin turned to Affleck and quipped, “Oh, look, Dad, it’s your autobiography.”
“I was kind of proud of them, though,” Affleck said, with a laugh.
Despite Affleck’s strong co-parenting relationship with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, it seems his children aren’t letting him forget about his past. The actor was married to their mom from 2005 until 2015, when they separated and later divorced. He reconnected with his ex, Jennifer Lopez, in 2021 after nearly 20 years had passed since they initially got together. They wed in 2022, but divorced only two years later in 2024.
