Bad Bunny is one good son.**

The "Baile Inolvidable" singer got choked up when asked to name someone who has always supported him, even before he became a global superstar, during Apple Music's Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Press Conference on Thursday.**

"The first person that came to my mind is my mom because she believed in me," Bad Bunny replied. "And I'm not talking about my music career — I'm just talking about before everything, she believed in me as a person. As a human."

Bad Bunny, whose full name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, explained that his mom, Lysaurie Ocasio, has always been supportive of "my decisions, my opinions, my tastes, my choices."**

"She believed that I could be a good person, you know?" the 31-year-old continued. "Smart guy. Talent[ed]."

The six-time Grammy winner paused for a moment, seemingly overwhelmed with emotion when thinking of his mother and her impact on his life. "I think that's what got me here, you know?" he said, his voice warbling as he spoke.

As the audience at the Moscone Center in San Francisco applauded his response, Bad Bunny took another beat to compose himself.

He concluded, "Not because she believed that I was a great artist, but she believed that I'm a great person. And that feels better, even, than anything else."

Bad Bunny is set to headline the Super Bowl halftime show Sunday, where he will perform live from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., as the Seattle Seahawks face off against the New England Patriots. The prestigious gig comes just a week after Bad Bunny won three Grammy Awards — including Album of the Year for *Debi Tirar Mas Fotos*.

Despite Bad Bunny's immense success, his selection as Super Bowl halftime performer has sparked some controversy, with conservative politicians and commentators decrying the fact that Spanish is the dominant language in his music and that he has spoken out against Immigration and Customs Enforcement.**

Last month, President Donald Trump criticized the singer as well as Bay Area rock legends Green Day, who will perform at the Super Bowl's opening ceremony. "I'm anti-them," he said of the artists. "I think it's a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible."**

The conservative organization Turning Point USA has even created an alternative Super Bowl halftime show with Kid Rock as headliner in response to Bad Bunny's performance. **

Earlier this week, NFL chief security officer Cathy L. Lanier insisted that there were "no planned ICE enforcement activities" for Super Bowl 2026. Bad Bunny has previously stated that he refused to bring his *Debi Tirar Mas Fotos *world tour to the continental U.S. out of concerns that ICE would target the gigs.**

Lanier's remarks came after Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem threatened that ICE would be at the big game.
