Andy Cohen Defends Having ‘MAGA Women’ on Real Housewives Shows

Real Housewives franchise producer Andy Cohen defended his shows including “MAGA women,” after a complaint during a Q&A session Tuesday.
Cohen answered fan questions this week through the social media platform Threads, where one user asked, “Why so many MAGA women?” The critic said they could no longer watch the Orange County version of Real Housewives anymore.
“If we didn’t showcase people with different POV’s there would be no show,” Cohen explained. “Also it’s a show about the women and their relationships, not about politics.”

Some Real Housewives cast members have actually complained that their conservative views have pushed them out of the franchise.

Former Real Housewives of Orange County cast memberKelly Dodd was fired in 2021, with the studio saying they wanted to move in a “different direction” after multiple seasons with her. The cutting of ties followed Dodd making remarks about Covid-19 and the Black Lives Matter movement that faced pushback. Dodd said at the time that she was told the decision was not “political,” but claimed she was being “politically discriminated against” in a podcast interview in June.
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member Annemarie Wiley was also let go, and some reports suggested her conservative politics were behind the move, but the network execs denied this.
“I was given a terrible edit by Bravo and I found out after the season was finished when they didn’t invite me back, that that was the reason that I was given that edit, apparently… because I was a conservative,” Wiley claimed in a 2024 interview with Fox News Digital.
There have been a number of conservative and MAGA-supporting women through the Real Housewives franchise, including Gretchen Rossi, Jill Zarin, and others.
In 2025, President Donald Trumpappointed Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member Siggy Flicker to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council.
