Allison Janney Gets the Same Text Message from Carol Burnett ‘Every Day’: Here’s What It Says

Allison Janney says Carol Burnett sends her the same text every day

The pair starred together in the Apple TV series Palm Royale

“I play Wordle with her every day, so I get a text from Carol Burnett every day of my life for the last four years,” she said

Allison Janney shared a peek into her sweet friendship with Carol Burnett.

The Palm Royale actress, 66, revealed during her appearance on CNN’s Coming Up podcast that her costar has consistently sent her texts “every day” for four years, and it’s to let her know she’s keeping her Wordle streak alive and well.

“I play Wordle with her every day, so I get a text from Carol Burnett every day of my life for the last four years,” she says. “It’s pretty exciting. Every time it doesn’t get old, I say, ‘Yep. Carol Burnett texted me!’ So that’s pretty great.”

Back in 2024, Burnett, 93, revealed that she and Janney play the New York Times word game daily during an appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark.

Thestar noted that though she and Janney were neck-and-neck in terms of who’s the better player, she has “gotten Wordle-in-1 seven times,” meaning she’s guessed the word of the day in just one try.

Janney and Burnett became friends while filming the Apple TV series Palm Royale, which concluded earlier this year. In her podcast appearance, the Diplomat star opened up about what it was like working with the comedy legend, whom she calls “my idol.”

“I just adore her,” she said. “Carol Burnett is probably the reason why I wanted to be an [actress], aside from my mother being an actress. Watching Carol Burnett, I dreamed of having my own Carol Burnett Show. She was very much why I wanted to be an actress.”

“Getting to work with her and getting to know her… I’m like, she’s my friend, which is just enormous,’’ Janney continued. “It’s so exciting for me. I pinch myself.”

Speaking to PEOPLE earlier this summer, the Oscar winner called Burnett “my biggest icon,” naming her among her list of Hollywood inspirations, which includes Mary Tyler Moore, Eileen Brennan and Meryl Streep.

In a March 2024 PEOPLE interview, Janney joked that her father “now believes my career is legitimized” since she worked with Burnett. “It’s the first time he was like, ‘Wait, what?’”

Palm Royale, now streaming on Apple TV, also stars Kristen Wiig, Laura Dern, Ricky Martin and Leslie Bibb.
